Sammy Sosa - Drums & Vocals

Sammy Sosa has been playing drums for more than 25 years. His father and uncle are both drummers, and it seems he couldn`t help but follow in their footsteps... At the age of 4 Sammy showed an interest in getting behind his dads kit. But it was several years later, at the age of 12 that Sammy found himself mesmerized by the sound of drums and the physical aspect of drumming. “I was amazed at how drummers used their whole body to create such a great sound, and that pulse that everyone in the audience moves to...from that point on it was all about drumming for me.” Sammy plays with great passion, like he means it, and it shows. He has performed in many bands and side projects over the years. Most notably, he toured the East Coast region with Mis-Fit, and found himself deep in the business of record deals and politics within the industry. “While that is never an easy-going process, the life’s lessons and the experiences I’ve had are invaluable.”

Sammy also worked closely with the legendary drummer Lenny White of the Return to Forever band. “I was in a band in New York, and Lenny was working with us on pre-production rehearsals for recording sessions that followed.” Sammy remembers that time as the single most enlightening experience in his drumming career. “I could talk about this stuff all day, I just love everything about drumming and creating music, but I don’t have enough space to write it all down.”
